I don't think that someone I am not even affiliated with who had nothing to do with the hard work I put into making my music should be able to make money off of me just be cause I want to share my art with the world. Royalty rates only make the rich get richer. Most of the time the artist never sees the money and it only hurts them in the end. Please prevent this from happening.
Thank you,
Julie Ingersoll
This new relicensing is sheer stupidity. Allowed to go forth, it is a first amendment slap in the face for artists like myself where we are able to release our music to an audience and find out if and who likes our sound.
It hurts freedom of speech more than anything. Please help! :)
And I know you'd probably divorce, but the image.. never forget that you are a great person who can do more than Bill could ever dream of.
Internet Radio has helped me network and establish a name as an independent artist. Major Record Companies has silenced the independent artist by over-powering Commercial radio, so internet radio, myspace, and related sites are all we have.
We love and support internet radio and all the artists who agree to share their music through this medium. Please do not allow it to die.
There is no reason for internet radio to go under! This is how unsigned bands, like my own, get air play.
Bleeding Cross is a Death Metal band from Cliffside Park, New Jersey, that has a hard enough time getting gigs, without political B.S. getting in the way of peoples enjoyment. Thank you.
internet radio is a great resource for emerging artists AND for free speech.. don't kill another outlet for Art or for Free speech .. we could use as much of both in this country as we can get .
I post and sell my music on MySpace. Though I have not received any payments as of yet, I find this move by the RIAA outrageous.
bobby clark and witch doctors hooch
we feel that the net is the place for artist like ourselves need net radio and the net as a whole to get our music out there to be heard by listeners that would otherwise never here our music there for these increases must be stoped .
how are the little guys like us supposed to be heard if we cant have our music broadcast online!?
what put it in the local hour that comes on at like midnight when no one is even listening, yeah im sure thats gonna work *sarcasm*
I have been able to reach listeners as a musician myself, and this has been my medium of distribution. I have been able to mix my own music in with independent as well as mainstream artists, and striking a killing blow to internet radio such as this would force me back to busking in subway stations and dive bars.
I am an independent musician marketing my music internationally. I am also a music fan and want the power and gift of music to be shared with others in a meanful and cost effective way. It is hard for the little guy to get his name out there without the internet or other guerilla marketing methods. I am working on my first CD and want to appeal to fans through sites like Pandora, so they can discover my music. Without these sites, I would have never came across certain artists to consider for my music collection. It is about sharing ideas and broadening the horizons of others musically by presenting artists who don't have the hype or exposure of the top sellers. Please consider us and our well being when making your decision.
Sincerely,
Jamison A. Johnson

As an artist, I feel that this would cripple my, as well as other "unknown's", opportunity to be heard by a wide variety of listeners. This proposal simply benifits those whom are already established (i.e. musicians and companies with a high capital output). Internet radio allows my music to be heard along side both major and minor artists.
Music should not be made unreasonably expensive for those who depend on it for moral strength, a sense of belonging, and affordable entertainment!
I am a musician and I am always looking for new bands and new playing styles. Pandora is a great way to be introduced to bands that I haven't yet heard of and probably would not have listened to if it wasn't for this great service.
Internet radio has helped our band reach many listeners world wide. I can not believe that bureaucratic ideals are going to stop this new and exciting life line for listeners, broadcasters and artists.
What a total travesty of justice for creative communities, very sad.
We are a free improvisation band who willfully shares our music for free via internet radio. We believe that music should be available to the masses, without cost. Don't put restrictions on our rights!
We are an experimental noise duo and the internet is one of the main ways we get our music to the folks who are interested in our odd genre. You will never here our music on fm radio stations, partialy because we can't pay the the stations to put our music on the airwaves and the fact that we aren't signed to a major label isn't going to give us credibility in their eyes. To kill indie online radio stations with these royalty rate hikes is insane. They can take away internet radio, but they will never stop the diversity the is ever growing in our world. These actions are only going to bring artists closer together. Lets stand together though and stop the madness while we still can.

Getting airplay on internet radio has been an important way of my music getting heard. It is essential for new, independent artists.
Most of our downloads come from people listening to our music being streamed from the internet. THis bill would kill us......
Artists need to be seen, experienced, and heard. Please help them.
We're a small indie label, too alternative to be played on Pandora. We offer mostly yoga music, Celtic and world music on our website, www.invinciblemusic.com. But I appreciate the rock, blues and folk that I listen to on Pandora.
