Square Wave Punch

We NEED viable internet radio!

Pandora's Toolbox

Our band name is no relation to the music service, but I myself am a big fan of the service, and would like those corporate slobs greasy hands off of good sites like Pandora.

Tal M. Klein

As a recording artist who depends on royalties, I understand the impulse to want more money, but ultimately the music I make is for the people and without internet radio, I am preventing new folks from hearing the music. Much of my sales have been through people who have found me through Live365, Pandora, and SomaFM. Let internet radio be!!

Pheonix Rising

We became a band in late 2006 and our songs get nearly 50 plays on Internet radio stations and web sites per day.  This is how we get exposure and build our fan base... it's vitally important to us.

Big Daddy Dupree and the Broke & Hungry Blues Band

Please keep the Blues alive! The internet is used for criminal purposes every day. Please focus your attention on the people who cause harm and leave the musicians alone.

DK DAVIS

With out internet radio and independent artist has no chance of being heard. They are the main way we get to the people,

Threshold

Threshold is a spirit-centered band that plays a wide repertoire of original music in the Religious Science tradition. We are based in Broomfield, CO., and perform regularly at the New Horizons Center for Spiritual Living in Lafayette, CO.

Roommate

Roommate is a loose, inclusive ensemble of Chicago musicians that started as a solo recording project of singer/songwriter Kent Lambert in 2001. Roommate's debut album was released on the Plug Research label in 2006 and a follow-up album is in progress.

Saddle Mountain Band

I'm a listener and a musician with a local band. Internet radio is essential in getting music out to the people that may have internet but no local radio station as is the case here. We actually have a radio station, but it's off the air more than on. With internet radio we have a source for daily music of all genres. It would be a crime by these so-called music organizations (i.e. RIAA, etc.) to impose impossible tolls on internet radio broadcasters that are just trying to provide entertainment to the people. Stop them now before it's too late!

Rock County

I write and share original music through the internet

myNxy

As an artist it is imperative that the public have free available access to my art.  It is the best way to advertise, and get my work recognized.  The internet has been a beginning for many artists who would never have been known otherwise, and it has brought music from around the world to those who would never have been able to hear it.

Sammie Lee

Music is the life drives the life force within me..
This is the USA "Freedom of to empower the people, freedom of choice, Freedom...

For the people, by the people is free net radio is about.

The Adjusters

Like many independent bands, mine relies on exposure via Internet radio.  WIthout it, our artistic opportunities would not exist.

One Joyful Noise

I sing and believe that a retroactive royalty fee billed 16 months after its respective effective date (January 2006) is inappropriate for any business.

Does Congress make retroactive any new taxes or higher tax rates?

Does Congress ever
increase taxes by
300%?

If you answered no to my two questions above, then perhaps you can sway the responsible government entity to not increase royalties in sucha wrong (and possibly illegal) fashion.

I also believe that a retroactive rate increase in royalties shouldbe considered an
"ultra vires act"(illegal per se).

Do you agree or disagree with my belief?

Masters of Funk Soul And Blues- (Project Chief Engineer Mixer)

Dear Representative Joe Sestak,

Please Please Please!

A Level Playing Field For ALL of us in MUSIC is ALL we Ask.... ALL of US in Music... not just the Big Money Major Labels!

The RIAA and SoundExchange no longer represent MY/OUR interests, or listen to us, and now actually hurt us ALL greatly.  How was this allowed to happen?

(I've been in the Music Industry for more than 30 years, and an ASCAP member since 1975. Recording Philly & Motown Artists since the stone age.)

Bottom line, we're all just trying to stay alive and earn an honest living, be able to pay our bills, pay our taxes and survive.

The RIAA SoundExchange  (Payola for airplay -structure of dishonesty that 'doesn't exist') System does not work for INDIE ARTISTS who need to simply get our music honestly heard via terrestrial radio and via the internet ... Well, the Internet is ALL that we have left to get our music heard whatsoever.

Save Indie Internet Radio!!!

Fairness and equality for Indie Artists, Indie Musicians, Indie Labels & Indie Internet Broadcasters is all that we ask... !

Please Support us in our simple request for a level honest, playing field for ALL in MUSIC.

Unemployment and welfare are just not very attractive options.  If you were in our shoes, what would You want from those that represent us to do?

Please join us in support with  ...Representatives Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Donald Manzullo (R-IL) who introduced a bill called "The Internet Radio Equality Act".  This is a good start.

Respectfully Submitted
&
Thank You,
Gene Leone

The James Influence

We have music on various music sites (myspace and etc.) and it is a great way for us to distribute our artistic work. If the medium is lost, then it could seriously impede on our efforts to make our music known to others.

Crimes In Graceland

Our band has a hard enough time promoting our music, we need internet radio.  When I hear a song I like from an unknown artist, I try to find out more about them and buy their cd.  Internet radio to me is a good way to find new music.

S.T.E.P.

We have been together for 8 years. There have been so many issues and we have worked very hard. Internet radio is definately the way for an unsigned band on a budget to market their music. The market these days is hard to break into even when you are a good musician.

Disobedients

If not for internet sites that broadcast songs from signed and unsigned artists, it would be impossible for new music to emerge!!

Da Phatfunk Clique

This is a difficult balance for artists, especially those not signed to the mega labels.  This situation virtually eliminates opportunities for unknown artists to share their music with the world freely as independent and hobbyist broadcasters will not be able to afford to pay the higher fees.  On the other hand, who wouldn't want higher royalties and remuneration for their art? There's no great increase in costs to have internet broadcastors do what they do so why increase the fees?  I believe the resources would be better placed in terms of ensuring that what is due is paid. Thank you.
