Chronic Soul

My bandmate is currently receiving spins on internet radio.  Internet radio allows the small guy to compete musically and financially.

I'm a jazz vocalist, and as obvious as this may seem I don't always have the money to go out and purchase new music anytime I want. I tried the free download/pirating thing a few times...I have always feel sinful upon completion of a mix cd. I stumbled upon Accuradio some years ago and was introduced to some of the artists that have influenced me most since - artists I never would have heard otherwise.  Accuradio is an incredible service, one which I greatly appreciate. I am very saddened to hear about the potential loss of internet radio.  I suppose that's a sign of our times -- nothing is EVER free.  No one is allowed to enjoy anything unless it's overpriced or unattainable.  I hope to do more to prevent this from happening.  Thanks Accuradio -- you've changed my style.

I really love this station just as a listener.  And as an artist, it has helped me to get more exposure to my music, but I think Pandora needs to pay a lic. fee, but the amount does seem a bit ridiculous.  I'm mean if this amount is gonna be the last nail in the coffin for them, then there must be some kind of medium here.

Also, if they do pay this enormous amount, AM I GONNA SEE ANY OF IT?
I have Crohn's Disease and was in the hospital and almost died while recording this album, so I would really like to get performance royalties everytime my songs are played.

So please try to work something out!!!

I'm just now getting into the habit of music making and internet radio is a massive assistant to my work.

High royalities will only force Internet radio stations to include more and more commercials in order to survive, and precisely THAT would kill the music.
Internet radio stations are the best for music because the program isn't interrupted every few minutes in order to play commercials.
Don't be hypocritical. Respect the music, and not just the dollar.
I am speaking this both as a listener and also as a recording artist.

I’m just a simple musician who has been playing all my life, im not looking for any big contracts or explode on the scene, I just want people to enjoy my music and especally enjoy themselves, internet radio is a great way for exposure on global porportions. Please dont let the internet radio community die, most of them besides the big companies are just regular people like you and me who are sharing all different genres of music to the world, and if anything, helping thousands of bands get exposure who normally would not have been heard of outside their own lil town.

3 Finger Bag

Our music is currently posted on our site, available to anyone who cares to listen. We hope to get broader exposure via internet radio. Because we are unaffiliated with any major label, we cannot purchase air time like major acts. The onerous royalty rates are meant only to stifle competition from digital sources, and to perpetuate CD sales, and to make certain that only music from the major players gets heard! It's just another way for the major labels to tighten their grip on the audience and to line their pockets at the public's expense.  Of course, none of this extra revenue will make it to the artists who create the music. Of that you can be sure.

As a new and independent recording/performance artist, Internet radio, in its present form, is so very important to me.  In fact, it is critical, if I am to continue in this business; this passion.

To shut down the internet radio broadcast will affect everyone involved adversely people will not be able to listen radio bankrupt all webstations will alse affect the income of the artist because this is not a proper bussiness model for anyone unless this is what the RIAA really wants....

To shut down all webstations avoiding people not to listen new music and keeping  all royalties from physical musical media sold.

retrojoe (mixer)

I often make mixes based on a song I've heard on internet stations that often play songs not played by the larger stations.  I'm concerned that a major source of my inspiration will dry up if something is not done to correct the coming situation this May 15th.

DJ Classix

I have been a DJ for a year now, and these sites have been amazingly helpful to me finding music that  I have never herd before. Often before a djing event I will look for songs on pandora and find songs that are similar in style to ones i know for a fact that people like. I am then able to find a the bands info and purchase there cd. with out this site and the sites like it including kcrw internet radio I would have an extreamly hard time finding new artists and knowing what next cd to purchase.

Ray William Roldan / Swing Samurai

With out these private countrified citizens supportin' my music with they're radio shows I wouldn't have near as much success as I have had!.

I´m a musician, that have experimented in first line, the dificult of access a media to share and make know our music.

I´ve been rejected in my local media, so the internet has become and master key for we the independent musicians.

Please support our cause.

Dying Stars

Music is the gift of art given to all who hear and are able to interpret it for themselves.  No matter what the music sounds like, all of it is important, and it needs to be out there for people to enjoy.  No one should have to pay to listen.

Crystalline Dream

By now you are all probably aware of the news concerning the CRB (Copyright Royalty Boards) proposed rate hike to small internet radio stations.  This will cause the closure of many online stations which play indi artist especially those of us who are involved in the MySpace music community who are not yet signed or have a small label like myself.  Please do all that you can to help get HR2060 (The Internet Radio Equality Act) passed!

Blue Mirror

I discovered Pandora.com after hearing about an internet radio station that was created by musicians who could recommend songs based on multiple indicators.  Since then, I have been enlightened by hearing musical treasures that I never knew existed.  As a seasoned musician who has been performing since the 1950's, Pandora.com and other internet radio stations have helped be to expand my musical repertoire and improve my singing and playing performances.  We recently tore the house down at BB King's Blues Club in Hollywood and I attribute my exploratory saxophone solos to the music I've heard on Pandora.com. It would be a tragedy if the music was no longer heard due to increased and unfair royalties.  Many of the songs I listen to cannot be purchased at any price, because they are out of print. Please reconsider the effect of the royalty increase on internet radio.

Mountain Magic Band

I am a happy full time musician after a 27 year  career as a software engineer at Bell Labs.  I was on the embryonic internet back when it was only the APRP-NET.  I have watched and loved  it since infancy, even had the opportunity to help nurture it.

Nowadays I depend on the internet for the vast majority of my communications needs, and this includes radio listening.  I live (happily and fortunately) in the foothills above Denver, CO where radio reception is sparce and poor, at best.  Thanks to the internet and my local DSL provider, I'm able to enjoy radio listening (and improve my job prospects as a musician) regularly.  Losing this resource would be devastating to me and countless others like me.

I am also a very involved political constituent.  I will notice your votes!  Please, please kill off every attempt to do anything that will make the internet less  accessible.  All of human kind will benefit.

BTW, this should include repealing the horrilbe Digital Milenium Copyright Act, one of the most ridiculous and harmful bills our Congress has ever enacted.

Get with it!

Thanks,
Tony Rowe

Ball in the House

We're an indie band that is thankfully able to make a full-time living out of this, but we depend a lot on internet marketing to help spread the word about our music and videos.

I want internet radio.... Its a way for US independent artist to get our voice heard, our art seen, and our image recorded.  As an individual we are seen, NOT as a super star or in need of fame, but as ourselves!!!
WE need internet radio!!!!!

Sincerely yours,
Lory Ryder

Crazy Planet Band

Sites like Pandora Radio are willing to play unsigned artists who put out their own product independently. I am also a listener who likes to discover new music.
